Getting To Cabo – What Airports Are in Cabo San Lucas?

Los Cabos International Airport is the primary airport for the Los Cabos.  The airport features three terminals and another terminal is under construction that will host 22 international and domestic airline carriers.  Currently, this airport serves 3.35 million passengers annually making it Mexico’s seventh busiest airport.

Cabo San Lucas International Airport primarily serves general aviation and air taxi traffic.  All commercial air travel to this area is served by Los Cabos International Airport located in San Jose del Cabo and 29 miles from Cabo San Lucas.

Commercial airline service from the United States to San José del Cabo International Airport (SJD) is provided by various airlines including Alaska Airlines, Aeroméxico, Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, SunQuest, United Airlines, US Airways, Virgin and WestJet.

Non-stop flights are available on several airlines from San Diego, Los Angeles, Ontario, San Jose (CA), San Francisco, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, and Las Vegas into Los Cabos.

San Jose del Cabo

Tourists looking for an alternative to Cabo San Lucas will enjoy romantic, historic and slower-paced, San Jose del Cabo.  Charmingly called “Old Town” and has seen native tribes, Spanish galleons, pirates, and smugglers as the first community in Los Cabos.  Today, tourists can visit colonial Iglesia San Jose, enjoy strolling through Plaza Mijares, where you can boutique shop and visit exciting art galleries.  At the end of the day relax in the many romantic courtyard restaurants in San Jose.  After a wonderful dinner guests can return to their luxury villa vacation rental for the next day’s adventures!

Customs Information – Legal Entry & Departure Requirements:

Upon arrival at the Airport in Cabo– You will go through Immigration and Customs with your baggage and proceed to the airport lobby area.

CAUTION – Timeshare representatives will be soliciting you with freebies as you walk past. Unless you would like to spend at least two hours of your vacation time listening to a sales person or you are seriously interested, just walk on by. Right outside the customs area, you will see all the rental car desks, taxis, and transfer companies.

Departing Cabo After checking out of your accommodations, make sure you head off to the airport with plenty of time to check your luggage and catch your departing flight! Please be sure you have the proper documentation, especially the Mexico Tourist Card.
